Wilhelm in prime position after Pryde’s EasiFeed Dressage Day

Victorian Wilhelm Enzinger and Wenlock Aquifer currently lead the Adelaide CCI4* at the 2016 Australian International Three Day Event (#Aus3DE) following the first day of competition of the Pryde’s EasiFeed Dressage with the Stars Dressage Day.

Will’s expressive, punchy dressage test earned him a score of 51.80, as well as a huge cheer from the crowds at the main arena in front of the Adelaide City Council Heritage Grandstand. In second place is Hazel Shannon and Clifford on 52.10, and in third place is Rohan Luxmoore and Bells n Whistles with a score of 53.20.

Will says he is determined to keep his pole position tomorrow as he prepares for the much anticipated Qantas Cross Country Day.

“I am really happy to be in the position,” he said. “Out of the two horses I rode, I was not surprised he (Wenlock Aquifer) was in the lead. He really tried. We have been working diligently on the flat, and both horses have improved in this phase.”

“My job now is to stay in this position. The course looks really tough, much harder than in previous years, and there is a lot more room for error,” he said.

Other stand out performers from today’s dressage were 2016 Rio Olympic Games Bronze Medallist and Sydney Olympic Gold Medallist Stuart Tinney and War Hawk who are placed in fourth position, with less than 5 points between first and fourth place.

Rio Olympic Bronze Medallist Shane Rose and Glenorchy South Park are sitting in seventh position.

The day concluded with the debut of the Barrister’s Block Wines Twilight Jumping with the Stars, which included the RM Williams CIC3* Show Jumping, a highly entertaining celebrity ride and drive with a carriage horse and driver team, and the Thomas Foods International One Round Stakes, featuring some of Australia’s best show jumpers.

Thousands of fans are expected to flock Adelaide’s beautiful parklands to enjoy the Qantas Cross Country Day. Road closures for Cross Country on Saturday will be in place from early Saturday with Bartels Road and Wakefield Road closes at both ends at 5am on Saturday morning and re-opening to traffic again at 10pm Saturday night.
