Equitana Australia 2016 features eventing with Cpt. Mark Philips and Exhibition eventing

A eventing Master-class with Captain Mark Philips after lunch emphasised position and balance for being 2 of the most important things in riding a horse, especially when jumping.
Later in the afternoon the appreciative crowd was treated to the jumping round for the Equitana Australia Open Exhibition Eventing. The dressage for this was held earlier in the day. The course proved challenging with no clear rounds over the combination of cross-country and showjump obstacles. A Garryowen-winning show hack, a Group 1 superstar from the stable of late Cups King Bart Cummings and a line-up of Victoria’s premier riding talent headline the presence of Racing Victoria’s Off the Track program at Equitana later this month.

The four-day equine extravaganza is expected to draw thousands horse enthusiasts from across Australia and Racing Victoria has an engaging schedule planned across the four days of action at the Melbourne Showgrounds.

Hazel Shannon on Clifford wins the CCI 4 star Australian International 3 Day Event in Adelaide

In close fought nail biting show jumping contest Hazel Shannon on Clifford won the horse trials in the Victoria race course Park lands in front of an appreciative and knowledgeable crowd in the historic Grandstand as well as the Corporate Hospitality tents.
Will Enzinger took out a double with Wenlock Aquifer coming second by just under 15 points, with his other horse Britannica MVNZ being 4th. Andrew Cooper narrowly slipped into 3rd place on Evergem Perfection.
Hazel also scored a bonus when she won the dual the dual crown of eventing after accumulating the most points between the Melbourne International 3 Day Event and this event. This netted her a welcome $10,000 dollars extra. The dual crown is planned to be a triple crown next season, adding Sydney to the mix.
